In October 2023, Allison was asked by Je’Nen and Evelyn, of Practice Disrupted, to share my perspective on mental health strategies for architects and designers. This was especially rewarding as a graduate of the NCSU College of Design, and felt like a full circle moment bringing together both my foundation of design and passion for mental health and well-being.

"In April of 2018, the lovely students at Enloe High School in Raleigh hosted their own TEDx event. I was honored to be invited to speak, so excited to share what I love with others..and terrified. The final product isn't perfect (the slide clicker ran out of batteries halfway through the show), but hey, that's real life, right?! As I look at this video I realize that not only was it awesome to tell so many people about self-compassion, it was evidence of how far I'd come from being scared to raise my hand in class. I could have never imagined being up on a stage speaking, but it's actually through those very ideas I share in my talk, that made it possible for me to do this...broken clickers and all!" -Allison
